Huggies

This children’s book called “Hugs for Lyric” is about my daughter Lyric who asks for hugs multiple times a day ever since she could walk. To this day she still calls them "Huggies". Her requests for hugs made me realize how important a family’s love and affection is, and how much stability and security means to a child growing up. I felt this simple act of a hug was so crucial to who she is and how loved she felt that I wanted to create a cute little story to remind parents to stop and just hug their child because sometimes that’s all they need. Even if the cuddle lasts for just a short time while reading this book, these are moments that will be cherished for a life time. Huggies is about a gentle, soft spoken shy little girl who is on her way home from school, and all she wants and needs is a hug. Along the way, she meets some adorable little animals, that she just wants to hug. But sometimes, the animals are just too busy to stop for a hug! Will she finally get her hug? Read this precious little story to find out. I hope Huggies brings that same feeling of peacefulness and love, to your child and family.
Thank you so much for ordering, supporting and reading this story about how important a hug can be to a child.

Day Rivera is a creative spirit with a degree in graphic design and psychology. She lives with her family in Florida where she has been a contracted designer for a large theme park for almost thirty years. This children's book was inspired by her daughter, Lyric, and her belief that every child deserves to feel accepted, secure, and loved—and sometimes, that comes through hugs. As someone who grew up with learning disabilities in high school teachers told her parents she would not even graduate high school, Day found school so difficult and frustrating all the time, but discovering her talent for art helped her find her path and gave her a purpose in life. She now encourages her children, who also have learning disabilities, to do what they love and believes everyone simply needs to find their passion and that loving and supportive parents can be the most important thing to help a child shine in this world.

Ángela María Pinto (Blaumarí) is a Colombian graphic designer, photographer, and illustrator. She seamlessly merges traditional hand-drawn line art, using fine pens, markers, and colored pencils, with digital painting in Rebelle and Photoshop. She loves bringing her worlds to life through watercolor, fascinated by the organic ways water flows and breathes life into every corner of her illustrations. Blaumarí enjoys walking through nature with her sketchbook, capturing little animals and quiet moments she discovers along the way. Believing that an illustration truly begins when curious eyes explore it, she fills her stories with cozy textures and tiny hidden details that wait patiently for little readers to find them.
